The trip to visit the lender was pretty scary. We talked on the telephone before I went, so I knew what to bring.  Lucky for me when I left my universe I packed all my financial documents and brought them with me in the capsule.  I shudder to think what would have happened if I had let the movers pack them away with my personal goods.  It would be light years before I'd have a home!
In retrospect I don't know why I was so afraid.  My lender, Amy, was so patient  and went over various loan scenarios for me.  She showed me in writing what my payments would be and how much it would cost.  

I liked getting all this information, it was rather empowering to know all the details and how it worked.  I was ready and prepared to find a home.

Being an alien was an added difficulty for her. She had to send all my work verifications back to the other universe (thank goodness planet earth at least has fax machines!). Of course being a smart mathematical person, Amy was also able to convert my salary from cachinkas into U.S. dollars. No easy task!

I figure if Amy can get me a loan, with all the extraterrestrial details required for me, she can help just about anyone buy a house!  It really pays to work with a professional, they make the hard work seem easy.  So why was I so scared?
